There are a few more weeks until football starts, so…
Let me ask you a question, is this the most odd first place baseball team you’ve seen in a while? I think so. Something about the teams in Detroit that somehow do really well without a true superstar on their roster. ‘Isn’t Cabrera one?’, you might ask. Hmm, I don’t think so, not yet anyway. ‘How about Verlander?’, no….not quite yet. I think we all know the AL Central is pretty weak overall which is giving a team like the Tigers a free pass while sorting out their problems. Magglio Ordonez is a big fan favorite with his long hair, but one person who isn’t a fan is manager Jim Leyland. Ordonez has been ‘benched’ indefinitely for his lack of hitting so far this year. The pitching has saved this team up until now with the three headed monster of Verlander, Jackson and Porcello leading the way. So far this team has been a puzzle, and while first place sure looks good right now, you have to wonder how long this will last. I sure hope it does…
